Week 6 - Respecting our environment!
This week our focus is to respect the environment that we learn and play in. We thought about what would happen if we don't pick up the rubbish?
It would end up in the lake and bushes. This is not good for the animals like birds and fish. If the environment is not nice the animals will disappear like in the book. 'The Waterhole'

Respecting Differences
This week Pohatu Pod have been focusing on the 'Respect' part of our vision 'Trail.' We are learning to respect differences in others, give positive and constructive feedback and choose our words carefully. We watched the animated story Elmer the Elephant and discussed how being unique and different should be celebrated!
Groovy Gravity
In the Groovy Gravity ALPs group we have been looking at why we need gravity and what happens when there isn't any.
We watched a man at the International Space Station show us how he brushes his teeth without gravity!
This made us think of lots of things we thought might be tricky to do in space! We will be doing a mini-inquiry as a group around what fascinated us the most - How do astronauts go toilet in space?
We will share this with you as soon as we find our ourselves.
We have been making marble runs and this week Labyrinth making. We talked about mazes and used straws, tape and boxes to make our own.
Next week we want to start designing our own marble ones that we want to make out of cardboard boxes and tubes.
Check out George trying his out!

Miss Tonks let us look inside her broken computer. We saw lots of small circuits and talked about how computers are recycled for gold!
